One of our Chapter's Eagle Scout projects currently in the works is on our archery range. The work that is planned for this summer includes installing impact area signs along the right and left lateral limits and the back of the range along the fence, new firing line delineation markers and side lane borders from natural deadfall and cut wood, mulch in the lanes to control erosion, target canopy repairs, as well as brush clearing and leaf raking in the impact fan behind the targets to make arrow retrieval easier. The project will also include repainting the range sign, installing a second handrail to the foot bridge, and coating the foot bridge deck with non skid since it is so slick in wet weather.
As a separate project, we also plan to install drains or culverts in the path to the range. Initially we thought about using regular 4 inch perforated corrugated plastic drain pipe, but we are looking at something more substantial since our tractor would probably crush it. I would ask that any members with experience in drainage mitigation to please contact me via the email below with suggestions.
