A big thank you to the Rockhill Fire Department for coming out and doing a controlled burn for one of our food plots! We have replanted the food plot for fall/winter to support deer and turkey and it is growing in nicely with lots of deer signs already.
Fall is upon us and I am starting to prepare our budget for next year. Some of the things I would like to see for the upcoming year are continued planting efforts, bee boxes added, ponds and streams cleaned up and restocked, and a small duck sanctuary area added to the upper pond. A lot
of time will also be spent on finding solutions to better drain some areas throughout the property.
Thank you to Diana Marino for spending time out here on the property with me discussing land management issues. I appreciated your time and insight.
I have recently joined the Rappahanock Beekeepers Association and plan on joining the one in Prince William as well. I am educating myself as much as possible before making purchases for beekeeping in the upcoming year.
Anyone who has any ideas for projects or would like to see something happen here at the property, please let me know. I hope in the upcoming year to have more projects and opportunities for members to volunteer and become a part of our conservation efforts. I will keep you posted!
Enjoy the fall season!
